Full amount in rupees - 12.5 LPA = 12,50,000
That looks like lakhs. 12.5 LPA is 12,50,000 - enter the full amount.

A 20% CTC hike is not 20% more in hand
CTC includes employer PF contribution, gratuity, and variable pay. When a new offer shifts more of the package into variable or one-time components, the monthly credit can rise far less than the headline hike. Before you accept, ask for the fixed-vs-variable split and compare the fixed component alone. The calculator above works on total CTC, which is how offers are quoted.
What counts as a good hike?
Appraisal increments and switch hikes live on different planets. Average appraisal increments in India are projected at 9.1% for 2026 (Deloitte India Talent Outlook 2026). Switch hikes routinely run a multiple of that, which is why the highest-leverage salary conversation is the one where you have a competing offer or are ready to move. Whatever the number, it moves further when you negotiate it: state your figure, anchor on the market rate, and stay quiet after you say it.
How to calculate salary hike percentage
- Subtract your current CTC from the new CTC to get the increment amount.
- Divide the increment by your current CTC.
- Multiply by 100. That is your hike percentage.

Hike vs increment vs raise
- Hike
- The percentage jump in CTC - used for both appraisal raises and, most emphatically, when switching companies. "I got a 35% hike" means the new CTC is 1.35× the old one.
- Increment
- The annual appraisal-cycle rise at your current company, usually applied in April.
- Raise
- The US term for the same thing (Brits say "pay rise"). If you are preparing for the conversation itself, the guide to asking for a raise covers the case, the number, and the script.
Common questions
Is hike calculated on CTC or basic salary?
Offer letters and HR quote hike on total CTC. Basic salary matters separately because PF, gratuity, and HRA scale from it. Under the new labour codes, basic plus DA must be at least 50% of CTC, which narrows how far two offers' basics can diverge - but they can still differ. A higher basic means more PF and gratuity but less cash in hand each month; a lower basic means the reverse. Calculate your hike on CTC, then check the basic before signing.
How much is a 30% hike on ₹50,000 per month?
₹50,000 × 1.30 = ₹65,000 per month, an increment of ₹15,000. The same math works on annual CTC: a 30% hike on ₹6,00,000 is ₹7,80,000.
What is a good hike when switching jobs in India?
There is no single safe number - it depends on how underpaid you currently are and the demand for your skills. The practical approach: anchor on the market rate for the role, not on a percentage of your current CTC, especially if you are underpaid today.
How do I calculate my new CTC after a hike?
Multiply your current CTC by (1 + hike ÷ 100). A 25% hike on ₹10,00,000 is 10,00,000 × 1.25 = ₹12,50,000.
Where do my salary numbers go?
Nowhere. The math runs entirely in your browser - this page never sends or stores what you type, and no account is needed to calculate.
